NSW Sydney International Equestrian Centre The Sydney International Equestrian Centre played host to the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympics Equestrian events. Since then, the evolution of the venue has continued to attract international sporting events. It is set on 96 hectares of magnificent parkland in Western Sydney and is managed by the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation. The site's development has transformed depleted farmland into native parkland. It forms part of the Sydney Western Regional Park, 580 hectares of natural parkland, which was developed simultaneously to provide sustainable benefits to the local and wider community. Importantly, the area has become a living museum to remnants of Cumberland Plain Woodland, which holds sacred sites of archaeological significance for the traditional Aboriginal owners, the Darug people, and early European settlement. |
